Another week has come and gone and there is lots of good stuff to look at!  If you see any good stuff happening, please let us know!

 Line ups for Hallie!

Hallie Thiessen has a disease that does not allow her to eat food, and she gets her nutrients from a formula through a tube. The formula is expensive and the Thiessen family decided to hold a garage sale to raise funds. And did they EVER raise funds! People were lining up and having to park a couple of blocks away to be able to get to the sale! The family raised enough money to feed Hallie for a year! This is good stuff!

Wonderful wedded stories.

Ah weddings...days full of wonderful memories, and possibly some memories that aren’t so wonderful? Kenton Dyck chatted with some local wedding vendors to hear how things are going in these COVID times and to hear some stories from the insiders! This is good stuff!

A splashing good time in La Broquerie!

With the forecast looking simply summerlike this next week, the La Broquerie splash pad is going to be buzzing! This fun spot in town is just over a month old and it’s the place to be! A new place to play AND enjoy the water is always good stuff!

A delicious graduation!

Cole Martens just might be living the dream...the ice cream dream! This local ice cream aficionado actually went to school to learn about ice cream! That is next level appreciation and definitely good stuff!

The butterfly effect.

The RM of Stuartburn now has a few more butterflies fluttering around! 20 Powersheik Skipperlings were released as part of the Assiniboine Zoo’s program to restore the butterflies to their native area. Not sure you can see the butterflies while driving in Stuartburn, but more butterflies flittering around? Good stuff.

Generous seniors giving back.

A small group of seniors who received the $300 from the government during the pandemic has decided to donate their cheques to charity. They are in a financial position to be able to do and are encouraging others to do the same if they can. They are certainly showing us how to give back when we’re able! This is good stuff!

A general excitement at Dawson Trail Museum!

Exciting times for the museum as they are in the midst of building an interactive historical site! The new general store is just about completed and there is talk it might become a candy that serves candy and treats! Possibly a candy store at the museum? Definitely good stuff!

Is it a bird? Or a plane?

Nope! It’s a comet!! If you can find the Big Dipper in the sky, you can find the Neowise comet which is visible for about one more week. Best to find a location with little light and look up! Seeing this comet is good stuff!

Lost and found gets wet!

Jay lost his prosthetic leg while floating on the Pinawa Channel and despite searching did not find it. Geoffrey, a local Pinawa resident, heard about it and hit the channel to find it...and he did! This is such a good stuff kind of thing!

Hubtastic news for CFL Fans!

It was announced earlier this week that Manitoba is the official hub for this year’s CFL season! Pending the approval of the CFL...things could be happening this fall in Winnipeg! Local fans are definitely thinking this is good stuff!

A story about blueberries.

It was a year ago that Mary Byman went missing while blueberry picking. After 4 days of searching Mary was found and lived to tell the tale. Mary recovered rather quickly from the ordeal and daughter says she’s still out picking blueberries! A family member is in the process of writing about Mary’s misadventure in the woods so it’s not forgotten, not sure they will forget this anytime soon! Such good stuff!

Renovating a century of memories.

Marchand Community Club is doing some renos! Part of the building is over a hundred years old and used to be the schoolhouse so is in definite need of some changes! Updating begins later this fall.

Pack your sprays!

It’s not just bug spray you should be packing if you’re heading out into the woods! Pack some bear spray as well! With bear sightings increasing greatly this year, local conservation officers have a few tips on how to successfully venture into the woods! These suggestions are very much some good stuff!

MHV hits the jackpot!

The Mennonite Heritage Village Museum received a $62,000 endowment from the Government of Manitoba earlier this week. This will be a yearly endowment and the promise of a consistent amount is good stuff for the museum!

That's it for this week's good stuff! If you see or hear about some good stuff happening,  Please let us know!  We wanna hear about it!
