Manitoba Conservative Leader Hugh McFadyen has come out against the proposed Olywest plant in Winnipeg.
McFadyen says it should be located outside of the city because the current site is inappropriate.  He thinks now is a good time to look at alternate locations and for the government to continue to partner with the hog industry.  McFadyen thinks they have time to work on making this more of a win-win situation for the residents of Winnipeg who are concerned about the location.  Guy Beaudry is the vice-president of business development for Hytek.  He says it seems strange for McFadyen to come out with that position now.  Beaudry says they've been engaged in this process for over year now and doesn't understand why McFadyen is making those comments now.  Beaudry adds the Clean Environment Commission will be holding hearings on whether the site is appropriate.  He expects those hearings to begin in summer or fall.
