The Steinbach Fire Department at the hydro incident on road 40EThe Steinbach Fire Department was called just northwest of Giroux to address a hydro wire sparking and burning small tree branches.

Steinbach Assistant Fire Chief Russ Reimer says there were no wires down, but branches were resting on the hydro lines due to the wet snow at a residence on Road 40E.

"The tree branches were getting pretty heavy because they are still highly vegetated and then the weight of the snow is dragging them down on the lines so they are just burning off those smaller branches."

Reimer says the Steinbach Fire Department cleared the scene and called Manitoba Hydro to fix the issue.
