It has been a very busy couple of days for Manitoba Hydro crews. Spokesperson Bruce Owen says the combination of rain, snow and wind has caused electrical outages for thousands of customers since Saturday.

"We've seen a number of outages caused by trees coming into contact with our lines, lines down, pole fires and what not. That's kept us hopping."

Owen says the most recent outages were early Monday morning for customers along power lines coming out of the Randolph substation located between Landmark and Kleefeld.

"In what we call the Steinbach customer services centre, which covers quite a large area of southeastern Manitoba, I got a flurry of lots of calls about pole fires and lines on the ground. But it looks like everyone has been restored. (as of 11:00 a.m.)"

He adds with a forecast for more wet, windy weather this week, there is a good chance of more outages in the days ahead.
