The Hanover School Division has reopened all playgrounds and green spaces for public use.

The division initially closed the recreation areas back in March to comply with provincial COVID-19 precautionary recommendations. As the Manitoba government softens their restrictions, the Manitoba School Boards Association is permitting divisions, like Hanover, to do likewise.

Meanwhile, additional rules are in place in Hanover playgrounds to ensure the risk of transmitting the novel coronavirus remains as minimal as possible. When using any of the division’s outdoor facilities, guardian supervision is required, a social distance of two meters must be maintained between all people at all times, and those using the playground equipment must apply hand-sanitizer before and after use. Parents are reminded that the equipment is not being regularly sanitized and so should be used with caution.

The division also advises that their outdoor basketball courts and volleyball courts will remain closed until further notice.
