Hanover Firefighters were able to prevent a house fire Thursday morning.

At around 11 AM, Fire Chief Paul Wiebe says a vehicle parked on a driveway along Birch Street in Grunthal ignited and the flames quickly began to lick a nearby house.

“When crews arrived, the [truck] was fully engulfed and was starting to spread to the structure,” he states. Wiebe says crews quickly got the blaze under control and the structure sustained only minimal damage to its exterior. The vehicle, on the other hand, was a total loss.

Crews cleared the scene in roughly an hour.

Wiebe says he does not know the cause of the fire and there will be no investigation.
