Former Steinbach Mayor Chris Goertzen has been appointed to the board of Steinbach Credit Union. Goertzen, who owns Main Bread and Butter, will fill one of two vacancies on the board. Chair Reg Penner says Goertzen joins them at an exciting time as they continue to build a strategic vision for the future.

In addition to the SCU Board of Directors, Goertzen currently serves on the Executive of River Trail Development Corporation, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Bethesda Foundation, where he is the Chair of the Governance Committee.

The Board has appointed Goertzen to this term in accordance with SCU Board bylaws. With his appointment, the Board is now comprised of eight directors, including Reg Penner as the Chair, Henry Van de Velde as First Vice-Chair, and Maria Reimer as Second Vice-Chair.

SCU says Goertzen's appointment will be put before the membership at the next annual meeting for ratification. Pending approval, his term would then continue until spring of 2022.
