It's the first day we’re putting our shovels to use this season. Some people find it a chore while others enjoy it.

For Stephanie Robinson of Steinbach, it’s a bit of both.

She explains that it’s a chore that she dreads to start. But after getting outside and throwing that first scoop of snow, the adrenaline kicks in and Robinson says she then begins to enjoy the workout.

Overall, Robinson says winter is an enjoyable season and she is looking forward to spending a lot of time of outdoors.

Shelley Dyckes was also enjoying the morning in Steinbach, walking with her dog Macy. Both were bundled up and prepared to enjoy a stroll in the snow, something that’s expected to be a regular activity for them.

The recent precipitation has raised the water level in the pond beside the Steinbach Aquatic Centre. There’s now water pouring into the overflow which is a much different sight from the summer when that area was completely dry.

Motorists can expect to encounter a slushy mess on streets that have been sanded, while solid ice will greet them on streets that are still waiting to be tended to by city crews.

Parking lots and sidewalks are also being cleared.
