A member of the Steinbach Pistons hockey club is living through the floods that have hit Gatineau, Quebec. Forward Danny Pion comes from Gatineau and is back home with his family for the summer. He says their home is along the river and they've been hit hard by the flood.

"A week ago we had lots of water in front of my house and in back and we flooded a little bit in the downstairs. We pumped the water out of the house and everything was alright a week ago. But then this week we woke up in the night and my downstairs was flooded everywhere. We probably had two feet of water everywhere."

Pion says the only access to their house these days is by an ATV.

"Right now we cannot go to my house with a vehicle. My dad needs to come to the end of the street to pick me up with a four-wheeler. The army

is on the street, they've evacuated all the homes except for people they want to stay."

Pion notes they've asked some people to stay back with their homes to prevent looting. He adds they have insurance and will be fine but says it's been quite an ordeal. He has a message for Piston's fans.

"I'm good and will let you know if I'm not good. But I think I will be alright."

Officials in Gatineau says the flooding is the worst in 40 years.
