The Woodridge Firefighter Association annual Pancake Breakfast is set for Saturday!

Firefighter Paul Grenier has been on the department for 6 years and stopped by the morning show to talk about the importance of Saturday's event. "We talk about certain topics, like fire smarting your property which is because of forest fires. This breakfast is a great chance to meet the community and raise awareness about the projects we have coming up."

Another great part is that kids get to experience the equipment so they're not scared. "We do look a little scary when we're in full equipment but if the kids see us before, we can build up trust. They get to see the trucks and the lights and it's really good for families."

Breakfast is at 9:30 and it's a fundraiser which is raising money. "We don't have a specific project yet," Grenier said. "We haven't figured it out but we're in early stages. We're opportunistic, if something comes along where we can jump on it as a department, we will. Money raised, whether it's equipment or training, we can do it right away because of the community support."

The event goes rain or shine at the fire hall in Woodridge.
