Did you get your two, free, six-pound bags of french fries on Fry Day?

That is not a typo.

Steinbach business Enns Brothers teamed up with McCain Foods to offer anyone fries for whatever donations they could muster.

The donations were collected for both STARS and Ronald McDonald House. General Sales Manager for Enns Brothers Dustin Smith explains why:  “One of our values is to be there when it matters for our employees, our customers, and our community.”

Smith says what the two organizations have in common is that they can all be counted on “when things get serious and help is needed”.

“In rural areas, accidents happen and sometimes ground transport can’t get there fast enough,” says Smith about the air ambulance service. “We have employees in our company, that are family and friends, who are still around thanks to STARS because they were there when it mattered.”

Media Spokesperson for McCains Foods Carolynn Sinclair says after 300 cars had come through and 600 bags of fries had been handed out, the city of Steinbach had raised “well over $10,000” for the charities.

Sinclair says she was still watching online donations roll in an hour after the event, and was fairly confident they would reach their goal of $200,000 raised.
