If you're planning to head out on one last summer camping trip this weekend, you're in luck. Manitoba Conservation is reporting the fire ban and travel restrictions have ended for Eastern Manitoba, including all parks in the Whiteshell, Grand Beach and Birds Hill Provincial Park.

A burning ban had been in place since August 3rd due to extremely dry conditions. But due to accumulated rainfall, forecast precipitation, the time of year and higher evening humidity, that ban has now been lifted.

Campfires are now permitted in approved fire pits and backcountry travel is also now permitted, though caution is still advised.

Permits for debris burning may now be obtained from most Manitoba Conservation offices, though permits will not be issued for the Falcon Lake and West Hawk Lake areas at this time.
