Jeff & Marshall Stevenson are excited about the NHL's return to Manitoba

Jeff Stevenson calls it a labor of love.  He and his cousin Marshall have decided the time is right to make a documentary about the Winnipeg Jets.  Stevenson calls the NHL's return to the Manitoba capital a dream come true.

"It definitely has been.  I was a Jets fan growing up and I remember many moments at the arena.  I also remember many moments out on the streets of Winnipeg pretending to be Dale Hawerchuk, Teemu Selanne, Thomas Steen and all those guys.  It's definitely something that touches home for sure."

Stevenson says the idea for the movie came after they organized a road trip to see the first couple games and has blossomed from there.

"We're doing a road trip to see the first few games of the season and through some brain-storming we came up with the idea to do a movie that would show the passion of the fans.  We came up with the idea to do a movie about the fans, for the fans, by the fans."

He adds Winnipeg puck fans have a special passion for their hockey team unlike many other places because they've loved it, lost it and now watched it return.

"I think there's a deep-rooted passion that is definitely generational but I think it is part of who we are as a people.  It's just one of those things that I don't think we can fully understand or explain, which is part of the reason why we want to do this documentary.  It will give us a better idea of this passion that exists in everybody on a more personal level rather than just seeing the (exterior) excitement."

To help with that, Producers are actively looking for fans who want to share their stories of love, loss and devotion to the old, and new, Winnipeg Jets.

"We want this movie to be fan-based.  We're not professionals doing this by any stretch of the imagination.  we are just fans that are, as of right now, self-funding the film so, we're looking for any help we can get to make this a reality and help it become the best film it can be."

As word has gotten out about the making of this film, Stevenson says they've received a lot of positive feedback about teaser trailers on the website jetfuelmovie.com.

"The input we've already gotten from some fans is just some stories about their passion.  It doesn't have to be anything too special, we're just looking for the passion out there.  A lot of it will probably be captured on opening gameday in Winnipeg.  But, fans who are travelling down to Phoenix, we'd love to hear from and same for fans travelling to Chicago, we'd love to hear from you as well."

He says they plan to release a new trailer every two weeks leading upto the start of the season.  Each trailer will have new content to keep fans updated on their progress.

Producers have already been contacted by a number of local TV stations about possibly airing the documentary when it is completed.  Stevenson figures they should have it finished by the middle of December.
