Local farmers are glad to finally have some significant rainfall… but it has got to the point where they do not need anymore. Really.

Keven Peters of HerbSigWil Farms is one of those farmers.

“We’re pretty happy that we’ve got the moisture to keep the crops going, but I think we’ve all seen enough for a little while.”

With local communities getting anywhere between three and eight inches of rainfall, water has begun pooling on some fields. At present, this is a minor concern as any standing water should disappear after a few sunny days, however, Fehr indicates that too much more rain could be problematic.

Fehr pokes fun at the tense balance of a farmer's livelihood. “We always use the expression: ‘We’re one inch away from a drought and one inch away from a flood,’” he offers, “you are always walking that line.”

Still, Peters says many long term crops like soybeans, corn, and sunflowers, will benefit considerably from the recent weather.
