Customers of the Royal Bank of Canada in Steinbach may have a different banking experience than they are used to over the next couple of days.

“We’ve got some serious water damage, and a lot of our ceiling is lying on the floor.”

RBC Manager Laurie McLean says the recent rainstorms did not bode well for their facilities so they have been forced to improvise.

“We are not turning anyone away,” stresses the manager who says they have temporarily set up shop in the building’s lobby in order to help anyone who has banking needs. Despite the abnormal setback, she says her team has maintained a cheerful attitude and is handling the same flow of customers as they would on any regular day.

McLean indicates that repairs on the roof have already begun, but says the bank’s interior will need an assessment and some reconstruction before it is reopened to the public. At present, she is uncertain as to how long that will take but she reassures customers that “everything will be up and running as soon as possible.”

In the meantime, tellers and bankers will remain available, and McLean adds that this is a great opportunity to try RBC’s online banking app.
