Forward momentum and continued growth are two things the Superintendent for the Seine River School Division is looking forward to this year.

Mike Borgfjord says he thinks the pattern of steady growth will continue, but it may bring a challenge with it. "We expect growth again, it may not be as much as last year, but I think the 20 K-3 class size initiative is going to be a challenge for us."

With a new government, there is no certainty as to how much money can be expected for the division. Borgfjord says they are supposed to be fully compliant with the class size initiative by next year, but they aren't there yet. He says it may be a struggle if there are limited dollars in the budget. "It comes down to the budget, and also to what we are currently doing to re-evaluate how things are."

Borgfjord notes, they feel fortunate to have added a few extra things in recent years, as well as being able to offer more services. "I think we are going to look really closely at making sure we keep our focus on strong learning experiences for our kids, and whatever resources we have, to allocate them effectively."

Most importantly, Borgfjord adds, the focus will be to enhance what is currently being done, to continue forward momentum, and to be ready to allocate available funds as needed.
