The Steinbach Fire Department responded to a single vehicle rollover early Friday morning.

Assistant Fire Chief Russ Reimer says it happened near the intersection of Highway 52 and Hespeler Street. The fire department was dispatched at 12:43 am.

Reimer says it appears a northbound vehicle failed to yield to the curve behind the water pump station, near the water tower. The vehicle drove through the ditch, up the embankment and rolled.

"The driver was in the vehicle when we arrived and still sitting in there on its side," explains Reimer. "So we did have to stabilize the vehicle and use vehicle extrication to remove the patient."

Reimer says the male driver and single occupant was rushed to hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Crews were on scene for about an hour.
