Construction site of CSU along Main Street

You may have noticed a new construction site at 450 Main Street in Steinbach between Barkman and Kroeker Avenues. it will be a mental health Crisis Stabilization Unit.

John Stinson is the chief executive officer at South Eastman Health. He explains, "This is going to provide an opportunity where people, who are in real crisis situations for mental health, have a safe haven for a short term stay while they get in a more stabilized position and then can return home to their family in the community."

They hope to have the project done by the end of January. He says the building will be about 5 thousand square feet in size. 3 thousand square feet will be for the C.S.U. Stinson adds, "The additional 2 thousand square feet of space is also there for us to put in other programming; complimentary programming or to look at whether or not we'd want to put in a physician clinic. We are looking at all kinds of options for that space. So it will be a bit of a blended service there."

Stinson says this project is a unique partnership between the province, South Eastman Health and Bethesda Wellness Incorporated.
