Man who attempted to pass counterfeit $50

**UPDATE - May 15th

Steinbach RCMP are thanking the public for their assistance after identifying a man who attempted to pass a counterfeit $50 bill at a local retailer late last month.

The man was identified thanks to a surveillance video photo released to the media.  Back on April 25th, he tried to use the fake bill as payment at Real Canadian Superstore in Steinbach, but the cashier realized the bill was counterfeit and wouldn't accept it as payment.

Police wanted the man identified because they believed he had information regarding where the bill may have come from.  They don't say whether any of that information has been provided but they do say there are no charges being contemplated at this time.
