Constructing the new Cancercare facility at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach will cost more than expected.

South Eastman Health Chief Executive Officer Monique Vielfaure Mackenzie says they had budgeted about $2.75 million to construct the facility along with obstetrics wing and training centre.  There were 8 tenders with Boretta Construction of Winnipeg having the lowest bid at $3.2 million and so it has been awarded the tender.  Vielfaure Mackenzie says thanks to additional funding from the Bethesda Foundation, Manitoba Health and South Eastman Health, the project is a go.  She hopes to see construction begin in the next 2 weeks.
