A large infill development project has begun on the east side of Maplewood Street in Steinbach.

The first plan for redevelopment on Maplewood Street was presented to council back in the summer of 2018. The developer at the time put in a request to have the first eight properties south of Stone Bridge Crossing rezoned from low to medium density residential.

However, following strong push-back from local residents, council denied the proposed 44-unit multi-family complex.

Then in April 2020, a new developer came forward with a similar rezoning request for the same eight properties.

Developer Jeremy Peters presented to council, noting the new plan was to remove seven houses and replace them with six 12-unit 3-storey buildings. Council gave the plan 1st reading.
