Grunthal kids are taking time to look after the community’s rock snake.

Kristine Braun chairs the Grunthal Parks and Recreation Board.

She says Leo the Rock Snake has grown a lot since he first showed up at the park a couple weeks ago.

She notes the children really care about Leo.

“I was just coming to check on Leo and there were kids at swimming lessons, and one little boy, I could hear him say, ‘Mom, I'm just gonna go check on Leo, OK?’ And he came over here and he showed me the rocks that he painted. He did three or four. And we talked about Leo.”

Braun told him how small Leo was at the beginning and then they counted the rocks together.

Leo has grown to over 60 hand-painted rocks.

“It was just really cool that he was coming to check on Leo. Leo is pretty famous around these parts,” Braun laughs.
