Community Christmas is in need of cash and toys for hampers.

Community Christmas organizers are feeling panicky right now. December 14th is the first delivery date for around 800 hampers to be delivered around Steinbach and South East Manitoba. Moni Loewen, spokesperson for community Christmas says they don't have enough, toys or money. Right now Loewen says they are desperate need of financial donations and about one thousand toys if they are going to be able to fill the hampers that are needed. Loewen says, "Right now perhaps because of the wonderful weather we have been having, people are not thinking Christmas just yet. So we are definitely feeling that money is a huge need right now. We haven’t received very many donations at all." Loewen notes, they were hoping that hampers needed would have been down this year which would indicate that things are getting better, however, the numbers are still up around the 800 mark. She says she is basing those numbers on food bank usage throughout this year Volunteers will be delivering hampers on two days this year, and there will also be a pick up day for families who live further away. If you would like to help out go to www.steinbachcommunitychristmas.com or drop by the food bank at 525 Main Street.
