Hundreds of children cheered as they raced around the main street of Mennonite Heritage Village in search of 30,000 Easter eggs.

A & W owner Derek Williamson moved to Steinbach a couple of years ago and says the annual Easter event was very popular in his previous hometown in Alberta.

So, when he moved to our city, Williamson felt he wanted to share the fun Easter tradition with his new community.

“So, our previous community, they did this every year. It got bigger and bigger every year and it's just nice to get out, you know, the first holiday of the year, like spring and to be with family over Easter weekend.”

Around 600 people attended the community event Saturday in Steinbach and Williamson says this event will happen, again.

“We’re planning for next year already,” he says. “So, the community just needs to tell everyone else and come on out.”
