A collective sigh of relief could be heard in the La Broquerie Arena on Wednesday night. It had something to do with a seven-game losing streak the Habs put to bed thanks to a workmanlike 6-2 victory over the Red River Wild. As a result, the Carillon Senior Hockey League's best-of-seven final is now tied at a game a piece.

"We had been e-mailing throughout the day - just to say - come out hard and play the way we can," said Habs forward Rejean Carriere who scored three unanswered goals in game two. "We know we can compete with these guys. If we play hard and we play our game, we know we can be successful."

You have to go all the way back to March 19th, 2010 when La Broquerie beat Steinbach 10-7 and grabbed a 3-2 series lead to find the last time the Habs won a game in a CSHL final. La Broquerie lost games six and seven to the Huskies and two seasons later were swept in four straight by the Niverville Clippers. The Habs also lost game one of this years final to the Wild last Friday.

Paul Gauthier added a goal and two assists in game two while Mitch Normandeau and Mike Monnet also scored for La Broquerie.

"They came out with a lot of horsepower," said forward Cole Brunet who got the Wild on the board beating Habs goaltender Mike Fiola with five minutes left in the third period. "The first two periods for sure - we were behind the eight-ball. We couldn't get our legs going but finally in desperation we kind of pulled something together and got a couple of goals but there wasn't enough time."

Vladimir Bleznk also scored for Red River. Game three goes tonight in St. Jean and the Wild couldn't be happier that they get to play a bounce-back game less than 24-hours after losing game two.

"Leave it - it's done and come to the rink with a fresh mind," said Brunet. "We'll regroup from there. This was a bit of a wakeup call and we just got to be prepared."
