Ken Bueckert tossed a complete game five-hitter as the Carillon Sultans beat the Interlake Knights 5-1 in Stonewall. The Sultans are in second place in the Manitoba Junior Baseball League with a record of 9 and 4 and trail the first place Elmwood Giants by 11/2 games. Drake Moslenko had three hits including a home-run as the Giants downed Pembina Valley 7-2.
The Altona Bisons improved to 9 and 5 with a 10-5 victory over the St.James A's.

Aaron Mendoza hit a 7th inning grand slam as the Winnipeg Goldeyes outscored the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 10-7 at Can West Global Park. Keith Maxwell had three hits and scored two runs for the Goldeyes who moved within 21/2 games of the Northern Baseball League West Division leading RedHawks. Winnipeg has the dayoff and will open a weekend series in Joliet Friday night against the JackHammers.

Fernando Pisani scored a shorthanded breakaway goal 3:31 into overtime to lift the Edmonton Oilers past Carolina 4-3. That cuts the Hurricanes lead in the Stanley Cup final to three games to two. Pisani had opened the scoring 16 seconds into the first period. Ales Hemsky and Michael Peca also scored for the Oilers who will host game six on Saturday. Eric Staal scored twice for Carolina while the other went to Ray Whitney. All three goals were scored on the powerplay.

The Hershey Bears can end the 2005-2006 American Hockey League season Thursday with a win over the Admirals in Milwaukee. The Bears lead the Calder Cup final three games to two.
