An apartment block in Steinbach, known by some people as the bumble bee because of its yellow and black colour, will soon have a sister building next to it.

Garth Reimer of Reimer Agencies has announced plans to add phase 2 to the 'Park Place' building on Parkview Place. He says, "It's a new building more or less like phase one and it's going to be located right next to phase one (on the west side of it). It's going to back onto A.D. Penner Park. It will be a continuation of a successful first project. We're pleased to be able make another investment in Steinbach and add another quality housing option for people."

Reimer notes the first apartment block on Parkview, built six years ago, has had a near zero vacancy rate and says he is optimistic the second building will be equally well received. He believes that's due to factors like location and good value. Construction of the new building is scheduled to begin in spring with completion slated in the fall of next year.

Meanwhile, Reimer says the steady increase in demand for housing in Steinbach is quite something. "Clearly the growth of the community is quite spectacular. What's even more intriguing is, not just the growth the last little bit, but that it's been a consistent growth for decades. It's a tribute to a lot of good quality people investing in the community in so many ways."

As to the colour of the building, Reimer jokes, "I not sure. The first one was well received. Some of the kids in the area call it the 'Bumble Bee' because it's black and yellow. I don't know if I will be able to top that name for my second building."
