Football fans in Steinbach got to meet Winnipeg Blue Bomber Willie Jefferson yesterday in Steinbach at the Holiday RV and Marine show.

Jefferson says it means a lot to be invited to the event.

“It’s very exciting, it’s humbling. I’m excited to spread the Winnipeg Blue Bombers energy outside of Winnipeg. We know we have a lot of fans from outside of the city.”

Jefferson says it’s especially important to connect with the young football players to encourage them to grow, both on and off the field.

“I just want to be that light that can shine for them. I don’t want to be the guy that’s just there to take pictures and sign autographs. I want to get to know these kids, I want these kids to learn something to help them grow as young men or young women that are playing the sport, as well, and just be better human beings.”

When he was growing up in Texas, Jefferson desired to be an exceptional football player and a positive role model for kids.
