Not only were they dressed like the pioneers, they also worked like the pioneers.  A group from Mennonite Heritage Village spent Friday afternoon harvesting winter wheat on a field west of Steinbach, at the corner of Highway 52 and PR 206.  Executive Director Gary Martens says their efforts to promote the museum worked, and they were able to take off about 50 bushels per acre, compared to 15 bushels in the pioneering days.  However, he notes the 75 year old machinery had a tough time keeping up with the high yield, so they slowed things down a bit.  He hopes they'll get enough wheat this year to last the museum for 2 years.
