Entrance To the Peace Garden Sunday

The 9-11 ceremony at the International Peace Garden Sunday attracted several hundred people including Manitoba Premier Greg Selinger.

The Peace Garden is one of the few sites with debris from the twin towers. a memorial site has been established at the garden to remember what happened 10 years ago.

Premier Selinger says its important to reflect on that day and the sacrifices made over the past 10 years. He adds, "We've had to do so much since then to protect ourselves from those kind of risks; all the investments we've made in security, border crossings, air flights, any kind of transportation movements and the way we build our structures now and the investments we've made in intelligence services. All of those have required tremendous dedication of public resources. So as we think back on that we ask ourselves what can we do to promote peace."

Alex Forrest with the Manitoba Professional Firefighters Association wants people to know there's still tragedy coming from September 11th, 2001. He explains First Responders and others that worked at ground zero continue to suffer and die from cancer and other illnesses brought on by 9-11.
