The Hanover School Division will make big changes to Niverville's landscape in 2018.

Superintendent Randy Dueck says the school will not be completed in 2018 but construction will commence and take shape.

"The biggest thing I'm looking forward to is breaking the ground on the new school in Niverville. We've really been looking forward to that for some time. We've worked hard to make the case for that new school, we believe that we've designed a really good school and to actually get the ground broken on that, and to really start getting the excitement in the community. Start building it and share as much as we can along the way with the community. Just preparing for the opening of that school in September 2019."

Dueck says they are also continuing to lobby the Public Schools Finance Board for an addition at Mitchell Elementary School.

"We have been working hard to make a case for an addition at Michell Elementary School. We've submitted our request for that addition to the Public Schools Finance Board. We know that they understand our request and they understand the importance of our request so, it's a matter of waiting and hopefully, that will be announced in this coming year in the budget."

He notes he's looking forward to the election in October and what the new board of trustees will look like going forward into 2019.
