Emergency crews were called to a car/bicycle collision at the corner of Fourth Street and Barkman Avenue shortly after 5 Wednesday evening.

Assistant Deputy Fire Chief Mike Penner says the bicyclist was taken to hospital but the severity of the injuries is not known at this time.

"We had a vehicle that was traveling west on Barkman and a bicyclist came out from Fourth Street across Barkman and got hit by the vehicle. The bicycle, there was a young male that was driving it. He got taken to hospital, possibly broken bones."

Penner says the driver of the vehicle was the lone occupant. He notes RCMP called in a traffic analyst to investigate the cause of the collision and the intersection was closed while the analyst did his work.
