The Board Chair of Summer In The City is confident the festival this past weekend was the best-attended one to date.

Jon Sawatzky says this past weekend was the tenth annual Summer In The City and they are continuing to grow.

Jon Sawatzky second from the right"We haven’t got all the numbers yet but we have a few ways to validate that. Just what we visually see it was outstanding so this could be and we fully expect it to break our all-time records. The compound area with all the musicians was excellent, it was packed. The children’s area, the artist's tents, everyone said they were shocked and blown away by the volume of people that were coming through."

Sawatzky says based on gate counts at the three SCU Main Stage headliner shows, numbers are up on those fronts as well, adding they have received a lot of positive feedback for all three shows. He notes there were a number of other factors that also helped draw out crowds including near perfect weather.

"People know what to expect when they come here now, for the first few years it is new and growing but we have a bit of routine now so that helps. We changed a little bit of the street layout so we had Artists in the City more centralized. A really big children’s focus at the end which was super attended. The youth sports was well attended, there is a whole big youth movement that just continues to grow and snowball."

Art Enns, the Co-Chair of Worship In The City, says the Sunday morning service was attended by approximately 2,500 people and they collected $9,060 during the offering for Southeast Helping Hands, Soup’s On, and Steinbach Community Outreach.

Sawatzky says clean-up went very smoothly with most streets open by 10:00 P.M. He thanks everyone who helped out for their hard work over the weekend.
