A Steinbach RCMP officer went to hospital as a precaution, while trying to break up a pit party near La Broquerie Saturday night.

RCMP received several calls at around 10:40 that night, after 30 to 40 vehicles had been spotted parked along both sides of Provincial Road 302. When officers arrived, they discovered more than 100 cars parked along the highway and more than 500 people partying at a gravel pit.

The three officers were able to clear out about half of those in attendance and had several vehicles towed that were impeding the highway.

According to police, some groups became hostile towards police by throwing rocks and bottles at a police vehicle, damaging one of the police car windows.

As a precautionary measure, one of the officers had to attend hospital due to broken glass.

There have been no arrests or charges laid at this point.
