More than a week after a major winter storm hammered the province, high water levels continue throughout Southern Manitoba. The Manitoba Hydrologic Forecast Centre says a flood warning remains in effect for the Red River at St. Jean, Morris and St. Adolphe.

The Red is above bank at St. Adolphe and St. Jean, and may rise above bank at Morris. It's expected to peak by Wednesday.

The snow in south-central and western Manitoba has largely melted, and runoff in most areas is slowing. However, Western Red River tributaries such as the Morris and La Salle River, and Shannon Creek, continue to rise.

A low pressure system moving through the U.S. portion of the Red River Valley Monday is expected to drop 20 to 40mm of rainfall in that area, with 10 to 20mm expected in Southern Manitoba. The rain will increase water levels on the U.S. portion of the Red.

In Manitoba, the additional precipitation will cause a slight increase in water level or an increase in the duration of high water, depending on the timing with local runoff and tributary flow.
