A longtime resident of St. Adolphe will try again to run for Ritchot council.

Keith Pearce has lived in St. Adolphe for 25 years. Pearce says he runs a one-person consulting and design business for the food service industry. He has been designing commercial kitchens, cafeterias and restaurants for the past 25 years.

Pearce admits he has no political experience, though he ran for Ritchot council about 15 years ago. He says he felt the urge to run again after a rezoning request before Ritchot council resulted in a large town meeting this spring. It was after that meeting that people approached him about running for council. He says it took him all summer to finally commit.

"I'm running for council primarily because I disagree with, in the last term of council, the way the council office and the council have been running the office and some of the issues that have been ignored or glossed over," says Pearce.

If elected, Pearce says he would like to address the issue of motorists speeding through St. Adolphe. He would also like to see more recreation facilities for children built in that community, including baseball diamonds and soccer pitches.

"Things like that that have been promised and haven't been forthcoming over the years," he says.

Pearce says the municipality should also do more to keep seniors engaged. He would like to see a seniors centre built in St. Adolphe to help them remain productive members of society.

And finally, Pearce says he would like to rebrand St. Adolphe as a place that people are familiar with and want to visit.

"Running my own business I deal with pretty well all kinds of personalities and business people, government," says Pearce. "So the particular job that I have involves myself in everything that a councillor would have to deal with but maybe from the other side of the fence I guess."
