Niverville Town Council has agreed to sell the old Niverville Manitoba Hydro building to South-East Veterinary Clinic.

The old Niverville Hydro buildingThe vacant building was initially purchased by the town back in May for $325,000. Mayor Myron Dyck says the initial plan was to use the space for administrative offices but after purchasing the vacant Horizon Livestock building in early October for the same purposed, town council decided to sell the property.

"We had an RFP for the sale of the Manitoba Hydro building which closed on October 11th and we had two bids, one from a construction company for $350,000 and one from South-East Veterinary Clinic out of Steinbach for $360,000. So council, by motion yesterday, said the CAO could enter into an agreement with South-East Veterinary Clinic for the purchase of the hydro building."

Dyck says town council set a reserve bid on the property and the bids matched that reserve. He notes they are very pleased to sell the building to South-East Veterinary Clinic.

"We know they have operations in Steinbach with 5 vets and do a variety of services. We are not sure exactly what they are planning for that site, but obviously, this will add a huge service to the community in terms of vet services to all those that would need animal care. We are not sure if it is going to be more for smaller domestic or if it is going to also include Ag."
