Niverville Mayor Myron DyckNiverville Town Council is working on a strategic plan that will guide the town until 2030.

Mayor Myron Dyck says the town’s current strategic plan is about to become obsolete.

"We had something called our 2020 vision and what that does is it lays out the plan for the various departments, it serves as a roadmap for council when it goes through it's annual planning sessions year after year. As we are in 2019, we have checked off a lot of boxes on our 2020 vision and so now we are looking to do a strategic plan for the next 10 years."

Dyck says town council has decided to hire Jason Denbow, the Executive Director of Community Futures Manitoba to put together their new strategic plan. He notes Denbow was also the individual who helped compile the 2020 Vision so he is familiar with the Town of Niverville.

"This is not a person who is setting the direction for the community, this is a person that is facilitating council in being able to set the direction for the community. It is someone that is able to ask the questions that maybe we are not thinking of that need to be asked and is able to assemble all of the data and say well this is what you guys said."

Dyck says the strategic plan contract will cost around $3,000. He adds they are looking forward to meeting with Jason Denbow in fall to put together a plan for the next ten years.
