This map shows where the new school will be locatedThe superintendent of the Hanover School Division says they are very pleased with the tender for the new Niverville high school.

The 66,700 square foot facility will be built at a cost of $18,450,000 over a period of 70 weeks. Randy Dueck says all the bids they received were competitive and under budget but they chose to award the contract to Red Lake Construction from Winnipeg.

"It was the cheapest bid which is typically what we look for and we also look at the number of weeks, how long it will take to actually construct this particular structure because we have some real serious limitations. We have to be able to open the school doors as of September 1st, 2019."

The new high school will be built in two phase. The first phase will include everything but the band room, drama room, and child-care services and will be completed by September 2019. The second phase will include all remaining spaces and will be completed by spring 2020.

Dueck says they are excited to be moving forward with this project and are happy to work with Red Lake Construction.

"We are also very pleased with Red Lake Construction. They built Mitchell Middle School which we are very happy with these many years later and so we are looking forward to that and looking forward to the official sod turning ceremony which will be on March 23rd."
