Crews from the La Broquerie and Giroux Fire Departments attended a fully involved barn fire just south of La Broquerie on Provincial Road 302.

The 911 call came in around 12:45 p.m. and Deputy Fire Chief J.C. Normandeau explains the status of the fire when they arrived on scene.

"Flames were coming out of the roof already on this old barn. They just vacated the barn from animals in the last few weeks. It pretty much consumed the whole building and also the hay shed on the north side of the building."

Normandeau says it was an old dairy barn and no animals were lost in the fire but adds the old milking system in the barn as well as an older combine in the hay shed, were not able to be saved.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this point.
