Awards were handed out to several athletes at Friday's Providence Pilots Awards Banquet.

Julika Phommarath was named Female Athlete of the Year. Phommarath scored 17 goals and had five assists in the 2017-18 outdoor season of 22 futsal games. She was also honoured with the Pilots Women's Soccer Most Valuable Player recognition. Phommarath won the National Christian College Athletic Association Game Plan 4 Life award and was named an NCCAA All American, NCCAA Div. II All-American and member of the NCCAA Div. II All-Regional and All-Tournament teams. She was appointed to the outdoor and indoor All-Conference teams of the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference and named Female Athlete of Week 15.

Lucas Pappel (Photo credit:Heidi Martens)Lucas Pappel was named Male Athlete of the Year. Pappel played all but one set for the volleyball team in the 2017-18 season and led the MCAC with 608 assists. He was named Male Athlete of Week 19 by the MCAC and appointed to the All-Conference Team. Pappel's 65 digs were good for tenth in the province, as well his 24 kills and 37.5% kill rate were good for first among MCAC setters.

Also recognized during Friday’s banquet were LaDawn Friesen, Female Rookie of the Year, and Jorge Vilchis, Male Rookie of the Year. Additionally, women’s volleyball player Jillana Groening was named Pilots Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Groening is currently holding down a 3.94 AGPA and 4.0 GPA.
