Construction on the extension of Woodhaven Avenue is set to be complete by late August and that means residents of the area will finally have two entrances in and out of their neighborhood.

For nearly 15 years now, any house located along Whitby Crescent, Fairmont Crescent, and Westview Drive have had one access point. If construction or a collision ever closed down Ellice Avenue those homeowners could not get home. Developer Waldo Neustadter is glad to see that change.

“Safety-wise, I think we’re hitting the mark.”

Neustaedter notes quick access to both L.A. Barkman Park and the Steinbach Soccer park make the development ideal for young families. Indeed, he says, many of the lots are already getting snapped up by eager parents.

“It’s been very well received,” he offers.

According to Neustaedter, the street’s progress is moving along at a good pace. He says crews are building out the curbs right now and will begin laying asphalt in roughly one week. Once the new section of Woodhaven Avenue is ready for traffic, Neustaedter says it will not be long before foundations are poured and houses begin to shape.

Neustaedter anticipates this empty space near Abe's Hill will be filled with housing in a fairly short amount of time.
