Golf Courses here in southeastern Manitoba are taking full advantage of the beautiful fall weather this year.

Pat Gauthier from the La Broquerie Golf Course, formerly La Verendrye, says “We had a great season overall. From start to finish it's been fantastic here.”

May and June were warm and sunny, and Gauthier says things have rolled along nicely from there. Not only has the weather been ideal, but he says conditions have also been superb.

“The best they've ever been. Everyone I've been talking to, and I've been seeing it myself, says the course from tee-to-green on every single hole is amazing. No dead grass anywhere, no blemishes, everyone has been saying this is the best year they've ever seen the course in condition wise.”

Gauthier notes there has been a lot of hard work and money invested into the La Broquerie Golf Course over the last few years and it is great to see that pay dividends.

Angela Pittman from Quarry Oaks Golf Course echoes Gauthier. She notes it has been a great year for golf.

“The season was awesome. We couldn't have asked for better weather this year. It was beautiful during the day, it mostly rained in the evening, the weather was absolutely perfect. Golf-wise, we couldn't have asked for anything better.”

Pittman notes Quarry Oaks also enjoyed wonderful conditions this season. She says all of these factors helped business thrive, adding “Participation was great this year, we had a lot of golfers.”

And it’s not over.

Fall weather in the Southeast has been exceptionally warm, and Pittman says they are incredibly grateful.

“Mother Nature has been very good to us this year with the extended fall beautiful days, we only had a few rain days, which is odd for October. We're open till this Sunday at the end of the day on the 22nd.”

The La Broquerie Golf Course is in the same boat. Gauthier says the late-season golf this year has been a dream.

“Our anticipated closing date is Sunday, October 22nd but we'll play it by ear. Right now, that's the date that we have penciled in. So, we've got this whole week ahead of us here.” He adds “So, if you want to get your last rounds in, now is the time with this beautiful forecast we got for the next five to seven days here.”
