A meteorologist from Environment Canada says we should be out of the woods by tonight.

Sara Hoffman says the cold front that is currently bringing snow and blowing snow to southeastern Manitoba should move into northwestern Ontario sometime this afternoon.

"We are expecting that the south wind causing that reduced visibility and blowing snow should start to weaken over the next couple of hours here but then we have a sharp shift to winds coming from the northwest and it is possible that could create some more pockets of reduced visibility and blowing snow."

Hoffman adds as the wind dies down later today "things should start to improve and then we are out of the woods by tonight."

northwestern Alberta to southeastern Manitoba and everywhere north of that temperature gradient which would include the Steinbach area and much of Manitoba should be under ongoing periods of snow throughout the weekend."

Temperatures this weekend are expected to peak around minus 13 degrees on Sunday.
