Work is underway to develop a comprehensive long term plan for water resources in the Seine River Watershed.
The watershed encompasses the Rural Municipalities of La Broquerie, Ste. Anne, Hanover, Tache and Ritchot plus the city of Steinbach.  The plan will be put together by the Seine/Rat River Conservation District.  Manager Patrick Watson says the intent is to provide better direction on ways to sustain water resources for the long term.  He'll compile technical information and hold public consultations in preparing the plan.  Watson notes consultation is important because water users in one part of the watershed may not be aware of the impact their actions are having on others.  The province has provided a $25,000 grant to assist in developing the plan.
