Road conditions did not appear to be a factor in a two vehicle collision at the corner of Centre Street and Highway 52 in Mitchell Friday evening.

That according to Assistant Deputy Fire Chief Mike Penner. He says the Steinbach Fire Department was called to the collision shortly before 9 p.m. He notes it appears a car pulled out into oncoming traffic and failed to stop for an SUV that was traveling westbound on Highway 52.

“At this point, it doesn't seem to be road conditions, they seem to be dry, they are not icy. I think it was probably driver error that caused this accident.”

Penner says the occupants of both vehicles refused treatment by EMS, so there doesn't appear to be any serious injuries.
