RCMP caught two drivers for alcohol-related offences in Steinbach last Friday.

At 8:30 p.m., police received a complaint about a vehicle coming into Steinbach from the north on Highway #12 that was swerving back and forth. Officers located the vehicle on Main Street. The driver was found to have a blood alcohol level about two-and-a-half times the legal limit. A 63-year-old male from La Broquerie was charged with impaired driving.

At 2:30 Friday morning, police saw a vehicle go through a red light on Main Street at Reimer Avenue. They stopped the car and determined the 24-year-old woman from Ste. Anne was a novice driver who is not permitted to have any alcohol in her system. A test showed a blood-alcohol level above .05. She was charged for violating the conditions on her drivers licence and also got a ticket for running a red light.
