16 Provincial High School Hockey and Basketball championships were cancelled by the Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association last Thursday because of COVID-19.

The Niverville Panthers were at the A/AA Junior Varsity boys basketball championship in Carberry and the Ross L. Gray Raiders of Sprague was representing 13 at the A/AA girls championship in Teulon.

Beausejour's Edward Schreyer Barons girls team and the Lorette Scorpions boys were at the AAA championships in Winnipeg.

The Panthers, Raiders, Barons and Scorpions were all sent home that Thursday afternoon along with the other competing teams.

The Provincial A, AA & AAA Varsity Basketball Championships that were scheduled to begin today were also cancelled.

Ross L. Gray boys and girls and Pinawa boys had qualified for the A championships in Fisher River.

Niverville, Gabrielle Roy and Green Valley were to play at the AA boys championship in Roblin.

The Lorette Scorpions were the host team for the AAA girls championship and the Ste. Anne Lynx were the host team for the AAA boys.

The Provincial High School Junior Varsity and Varsity Badminton Championships are scheduled for April 30th, May 1st and May 2nd in Steinbach.
