Wednesday was a day of record-breaking temperatures in Manitoba. And, Thursday could see a repeat.

The temperature in Steinbach on Wednesday peaked at 7.8 degrees Celsius. That set an alltime record for the warmest December 6th. The previous high was 5.5 degrees back in 2015.

But Steinbach was not the only location to set a record on Wednesday. According to Environment Canada, the following places in Manitoba also saw records fall (previous records are in brackets):

Meanwhile, Environment Canada is forecasting another day of record temperatures. Steinbach is expected to reach six degrees, which would break the record for December 7th of 5.0 degrees set in 1984.

The normal high for this time of year is -7 degrees.

According to Environment Canada, southern Manitoba should experience more winter-like weather after Thursday. Meteorologist Natalie Hasell says a low pressure system is headed our way from Alberta. There is a risk of freezing rain Thursday night before the arrival of snow on Friday. Environment Canada is calling for two to four centimetres of the white stuff on Friday along with a strong northwest wind. Daytime highs on the weekend will be near normal with -6 on Saturday and -7 on Sunday.
