A vehicle fire that took place Monday night has been ruled "suspicious in nature".

Steinbach Deputy Fire Chief Ron Chausse says at 6:30 PM his crews were called to a fire on Twin Creek Road half a mile north of Highway 52. When they arrived, firefighters found an SUV-type vehicle fully engulfed in flames.

According to Chausse, the vehicle’s license plate and serial number had been obscured by the blaze and could not be identified. He adds the owner of the vehicle has not yet been determined as nobody was around the vehicle when fire crews arrived. Chausse says the fire may have been arson.

Because of the nature of this event, Steinbach RCMP are investigating the fire. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
